Botswana's finest — with one of the world's great wonders
Overview
The ultimate southern Africa adventure. Three weeks of extraordinary wildlife across Khwai, Moremi, and Chobe — then cross into Zambia for two days at Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll return home having seen the Big Five, walked with white rhinos, cruised the Zambezi at sunset, and stood at the edge of the world's largest waterfall.
Day by day
KT collects you from Maun Airport and transfers you to the Khwai Community Concession, a private wildlife area bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Your camp is ready on arrival. Evening game drive through rich wildlife territory.
Khwai is one of the few places in Botswana where night drives are permitted in a concession-adjacent to a national reserve. After dark, follow leopard, hyena, and nightjars by spotlight. By day, mokoro excursions and game drives reveal elephants crossing rivers and lions resting in riverine shade.
Three nights in Moremi — the heart of the Okavango Delta. Game drives wind through floodplains and woodlands, tracking lions, wild dogs, leopards, and the vast elephant herds that make Moremi famous. The birding is extraordinary throughout.
Drive north to Chobe — one of Africa's most wildlife-dense parks. Two nights in Savuti, renowned for its large lion population and dramatic predator-prey dynamics, followed by a night at the Chobe Riverfront, where the largest elephant population in Africa gathers to drink. The scale of the wildlife here is breathtaking.
Transition from camp to Sunbird's Lodge in Kasane for a night of comfort before crossing into Zambia. Relax by the pool, enjoy an optional extra game drive, or stroll along the Chobe River.
Border crossing to Livingstone, Zambia. Check in to your lodge near the falls and spend the afternoon at leisure — or head straight to the falls for your first awe-inspiring view of Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'The Smoke That Thunders.'
A guided white rhino walk in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park — one of the only places in Zambia to see these critically endangered animals — followed by a visit to a traditional village. In the evening, board a sunset river cruise on the Zambezi: sundowners while hippos surface and elephants wade the banks.
A final morning to experience the falls up close, attempt a helicopter flight over the gorge, or simply sit and absorb what you've witnessed over the past two weeks. Airport transfer follows.
The penultimate stop
Chobe National Park, near Kasane, is one of northern Botswana's most remarkable wildlife destinations — and the last safari stop before Victoria Falls. It sits closest to the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe, making it a natural bridge between the bush and the falls.
The river draws elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, zebra, and abundant antelope, while lions, leopards, wild dogs, and hyenas move through the surrounding woodland and floodplains. Birdlife is equally impressive, especially along the water. Boat safaris offer a different perspective — bringing you close to elephants swimming across the river, hippos gathering in the shallows, and crocodiles resting along the banks.
For those who prefer to stay in mobile camp, we can set up inside the park for full immersion in the bush. Alternatively, a beautiful lodge in Kasane offers a pool, bar, and riverside views — a welcome transition between safari and the drama of the falls that awaits the next day.
The destination
Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya — “The Smoke That Thunders” — is one of Africa's most spectacular natural wonders, where the Zambezi River plunges into a dramatic gorge.
The Zimbabwean side offers sweeping views across the main falls, including the powerful Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Devil's Cataract. Walking trails reveal rainbows, roaring cascades, and mist rising above the gorge. As the day fades, the falls and surrounding landscape glow beneath unforgettable African sunsets.
On the Zambian side, visitors can experience a closer, more intimate perspective, with paths leading through lush rainforest and seasonal access to Livingstone Island and the very edge of the falls — as close as you can stand to one of the world's great natural wonders.
A dinner cruise on the Zambezi
A dinner cruise adds another memorable experience — combining river views, wildlife sightings, and a lively atmosphere as the sun sets over the water. It is a wonderful way to relax after safari. Victoria Falls is a place of thunder, beauty, and unforgettable moments on both sides of the Zambezi.
The Victoria Falls extension
Victoria Falls is easier to add on than most people think — and the cost is not as high as you might expect. It is a natural conclusion to any Chobe safari and one of those life experiences that simply cannot be missed. Contact us to learn more about what's involved.
